post track day meeting in the loveless shed today, dangerous reckons we should sell the 'zed and get something with more horsepower, i want to stick with the mz and develop it further, get a mikuni carb and decent exhaust system, fairing and get more weight off the bike, i like being the underdog and sticking it up them, punk rock two stroke versus japanese four stroke, trouble is, i won't be eligible for the mz race series with those mod's, what to do? cost's a fortune to race with bemsee, trackday's are a third of the price of racing so that's three times as much time on track as a race meeting, like to get the bike approved for crmc event's but can't see that happening, seem's strange that you can run a manx norton that was made in alfreton at summerfield engineering on a cnc machine, a replica frame from new zealand and 17's with modern rubber, belt drive primary, modern electronic ignition, [hidden in a 'magneto' casing] or a 'hailwood replica' basically a 'baby' fireblade water-cooled four cylinder engine in a replica frame with just a period correct paint-job but when i enquired about racing with the vmcrc i was slagged off for having jap wheel's and italian brake's, what's a matter? afraid i might just upset your apple cart?

moto morini owners trackday, cadwell park, loads of cool bikes and people, got put into the fast group because of my 'spirited' riding early door's, smallest bike out there and worrying a few of the 'fast' lad's, [mr zxr was well pissed off, passed him four times around the bends only for him to use his x4 horsepower advantage to overtake me on the straight's], i reckon this corner of england was the only place unaffected by rain, [well, until 1630hrs anyway when the heavens opened] four really good sessions and then, scshhhh, nipped up, immediate loss of power and the tinkly, tinkly of a seizure ended playtime, going to have to strip the motor, but, not to night though............

five am, that's the time i'm up for my shift, long day and we bail out at 1600hrs, no dinner break, just solid collar, drive up to get the hire van, citroen partner, the hire company owner , michelle, is a real gem, racing fan and gives us a great deal, £28 quid for two day's, drive home, walk the dog's, fill the can's with 97 raw and mix with silkolene race two stroke, leather's, helmet, boot's and gloves, spare's, food, tea mashing stove and tools, drill, socket set's, jet's, sprocket's and all the other essential bits and bobs, the weather forecast is toss for tomorrow but i clock the van reg plate, '51'........
shovel's just look so right with sixteen's and ape's, loving the strutted matt grey bike, no mudguards, [fuck your 'fenders', fender's are guitars not mudguards] standard swingarm frame pulled way on down, shorty fork gaitor's and modern forward billet controls, digging the second bike too, lot's of subtle little touches using standard part's, nice, [what you saying barse?]

fettling the 'zed tonight ready for the moto-morini clubs trackday at cadwell park this friday, had a look on their site and it's fully subscribed so should be a good day, [providing the weather turns for the better], i'm going to cut a skull and crossbones out of some white fablon and stick it on my arai, just like that bloke in 'physcomania', yeah baby!

sunday, decided that the trail-tech unit is just too much for a luddite like me, barse has taken it for gordy to try on his sporty so i take a trip to my local halfords to have a gander at the pushbike units, i only want a speedo, trip and clock that's it, i end up with a cat's eye wireless unit, forty-quid and ten functions, seven more than i need, got to be worth a punt i reckon, dig a piece of round stock out and machine to suit, that's better, rig up the wireless sensor on the right forkleg and borrow my ma's knitting tape to measure the circumference of the wheel and tyre, 1810, programme it in and dodge the rain to check the reading, bollocks, just knew it wasn't going to be that easy, try numerous attempts to dial it in but the rain is coming down with a vengeance, i'm wearing an open face lid, short's and a clash t-shirt so decide to sack it for another day and turn to getting some sort of underguard sorted to protect the electics, i dig out a underguard off an anonymous japper doner bike cut it down and shape it up with a hacksaw blade, file and emery, turn up a couple of spacers on the lathe, new stainless fasteners and bolt it up, little job's like this seem to take forever, a whole afternoon gone, just me, the dog's and marriane faithfull on radio six........
