me, barse and gordy went out today for a quick blast around derbyshire, couple of stop's for tea, bit of  crack and just chilling, we eventually made matlock after the crowd's had all gone home, on reflection, i realised just how dangerous riding on the road is, frightening...........

after a right royal week which see's me and jack into work at 0500hr's every day after an attempted break in where the bastard's cut off our data cable's and comm's including phone's, computer and alarm, at last it's friday so what better way of celebrating the weekend than starting it with some ink, knock off at 1400hr's after a shower and shave and down to see the 'world's most handsome man', my daughter, jess is already there after making the short walk from the town centre,  barse is in the 'seat of doom' on the receiving end of a right pasting on his half sleeve, he's already had four hour's worth on wednesday and he's back in for another four hour's worth on the same arm, respect due, your skin is already battered and tight from the previous session, quick brew and down to work, no matter how many tattoo's i've had before, the outline is a bitch, three needle's ripping into you, i fucking hate it, grit your teeth and get on with it, thirty minute later, i have the outline of a bosting hanya mask between the samurai, the geisha and the fighting rooster's, [ok, let's get the cock's joke out of the way again, done?, right, i'll continue.....] ben drop's a nine-mag in and the next four hour's disappear in a blur of piss taking, eating chocolate eclair's, drinking tea and country and western music on ben's 'secret tim mcgraw' i-pod.......

well, that's it then i guess, the mz has gone, sold via the club site to a smashing bloke, andy smith, he's got the racing itch after a track-day and need's to scratch it, made us a decent offer on the bike and the rest is history, andy has himself a race bike and i've got some cash to get my next project started, it's complicated, if this comes off and i end up with the bike i want i promise to expose my  nether regions on belper market place, the chances of this happening are slim, but, well, you never know, yes, it's a race bike, no it's not a stroker and yes it's a classic............

the range of bike's at the vmcc founder's day rally was staggering, the rudge's were beautiful, the scooter boy's were well represented with lammy's and vespa's, the sunbeam leaning against the tree, no stand's, was cool as, the norvin with the owner's pudding basin helmet and goggles left on the seat, the 'zed's, loads of them from the trophy to the ts250 restored to an amazing finish, but, i reckon with hindsight, my favourite bike, [apart from the tz, the mz's, the scooter's, the triumph bobber etc.................], was the junak, the what?, the junak, a polish 350cc, 19bhp single ohc single, manufactured between 1956 and 1965 by szczecinska fabryka motocykli, or 's.f.m', chopper's are alive and well and i love this bike, total fuck you attitude, oh yeah, 'junak?', polish for 'brave young man'.......

sunday see's me and dangerous making the 50 mile sprint down to leicestershire to look at a bike for dangerous, no deal ensues and we head over to stanford hall for the vintage motorcyle club founder's day rally at stanford hall, it's a beautiful summer's day and we stump up our admission fee, grab a brew and sit on the grass listening to the brass band, yes, really, it's that sort of event, laid back and good humoured and some fantastic bikes and characters present, first bike to catch my eye was the pre-unit triumph, not so much custom bobber as posh salt racer with some fantastic details, i was particularly taken with the drilled out engine mountings, nothing weighs less than holes, the indian board racer was great, and the story an epic, i couldn't get a photo of the 'showcard', [or the two pieces of grubby cardboard box], complete with cartoon's explaining the details, the tz yam, [not sure if it was a 700 or a 750], was pure menacing race machinery and looked like it would hurt you badly if you put a foot wrong, the egli vincent was breathtakingly beautiful as was the harley davidson sidevalve, but, one of the most historic machines was the humble ducati 'cucciolo', apparently the very first ducati ever imported into the country back in 1950 and was an unlikely partnership between ducati and the bicycle manufacturer raleigh of nottingham, it was promoted as a lightweight 'ladies' bike, and i alway's thought that was reserved for the sportster's, like fat-boy-slim said, 'you've come along way baby......'
