'life is timeless, days are long when you're young, you used to fall in love with everyone, any guitar and any bass drum, life is a drink you get drunk when you're young, life is new and there's things to be done, acceptance into the capitalist world, you pull on some weed, then you pull on someone, but you know life isn't like that, it's so hard to comprehend, why you set up the dream's to have them smashed in the end......'

kenny cummings and dan rose's seeley norton, see more at www.seeleynorton.com, built in america using english components, commando engine from steve maney, rammed into a minnovation replica seeley frame, a healthy portion of superneato engineering and a sprinkling of lovely details results in a perfectly baked norton..... [i sold mine to have some fitted wardrobes built, it was either get rid of the bike or mrs b was off, just because we had moved house and we had nowhere to hang any clothes up, women, no sense of priority if you ask me.....]

when my lottery numbers come up i'm going to get my arse down to donington park, knock on the door and order two of the 'work's' racing bikes, one to race and one to look at in the living room where the telly used to be, [the fucking telly will be in the bin that's for sure] check out the website, www.worksracing.co.uk, the photo's? glen english on the racer, some of the best racing photo's i have ever seen, beautiful...........
hector was three year's older than me, i was seventeen, he was twenty, hector worked a day shift at r.e.cords in derby's saddlergate area, upstairs was 'limey's', a clothes shop selling fine threads to a trendier consumer, the older suedeheads and even older soulboy's, some of them the original mod's, cool blokes who knew their stuff, knew their music and knew their threads, for them, the cut of a shirt, the detail on a button-hole and how a trouser sat on a shoe were the be-all and end-all of style, i was a an apprentice, low wages and striving to be a part of the 'scene', a nod of recognition from a 'face' was enough, be it at a dancehall, a gig or on the terraces, downstairs at 'limey's' was r.e.cords, the coolest place in the world ever, cooler than a cucumber, cooler than a very cool thing with extra ice, cooler than ryan gigg's bedroom, hector worked there, he was a northern soul dj of the highest quality, his rare soul collection was something you could only dream of, he was going to the 'states to buy vinyl, fucking hell, even nottingham was a foreign country to me back then, [still is,] nevermind the you-ess-ayy, around 1978 hector started playing reggae and a new music called punk in the shop, we used to stand around listening to these amazing records, i used to buy almost everything i heard in that shop, nowaday's when i dig it out a lot of it sounds really old, which, i suppose it is thirty-four year's down the line, this is one of the record's i heard in that shop all those year's ago, throbbing gristle were a post-punk band from, of all places, hull and one of the first band's to use samples in their music, i had never heard anything like it before and even to this day it sound's like, well, it sound's like the sound of that shop on saddlergate that had such an effect on me back in the day..........
sunday, it's grim 'oop north, the match is off, i flick radio derby on to get the skinny, the pitch is ok, [under-turf heating], but the police have decided to call off the match because of the amount of snow and ice outside the stadium, [imagine 33,000 people walking over that and compressing it into a lethal ice rink] anyway, we are snowbound in the village, the only thing moving is on two or four legs, lazy breakfast and off we go, the dog's are up to their armpit's, [do dog's have armpit's? they've got a leg on all four corner's so i suppose not then...] bloody hell, this is hard work, the snow is powder perfect, we stop to watch a kid carving it up on a snowboard, superstyling, the dog's trying to chase him down the hill, as i tab on up the hills i'm breathing through my arse, all the time i'm thinking, i really don't know where these thought's come from but i can't get the captain beefheart track 'steal softly thru snow' out of my brain, as soon as i get back, kettle on, towel the boy's down and dig out my copy of troutmask replica...............

my race number, #51 is gone, it's not available as another racer in the british historic series has it, i phoned the lovely lady pauline at the race entry office and asked what number's are available, 'nothing between one and ninety nine lovey', 'what about one-five-one?', 'sorry lovey, it's already gone', have you got anything at all with just two number's pauline?' 'no lovey, except number thirteen and nobody want's that do they?' and that my lovelies is how i ended up with the brilliant number thirteen, unlucky for some they say, down to roy's for some number's, he comes up with the brilliant idea of just making a white background, cutting out the number's so the carbon background comes through, a brilliant little touch, thank's roy, thank's pauline, goodbye #51, hello #13...........
you really couldn't make it up, tomorrow we face our bitter rivals forest at home, on the eve of the game their chairman shuffles off this mortal coil, he was a forest fan through and through and pumped a hundred million pounds of his own money into the club only to be lambasted by the fickle red dog scum, i follow the enemies forum's with interest and they have been calling for his head for the past two year's be very interesting to see if they call for a minutes silence at tomorrow's game, at the end of the day mr doughty supported his team and put his money where his mouth was and for that he deserves the recognition of both set's of supporters, my condolences to his family, but, it's derby day, there's no love lost and it's been officially recognised as the 11th most fiercly contested derby game, there's so much history between the club's, managers, players, no denying that they were european champions twice, excuse me, i need a sip of water to clear my throat, that's how much it sticks in my gullett, to give them the recognition, but, history can't be re-written, i would love to see the red dogs relegated to the third tier of english football, but, i would miss the thrill of derby day, put simply, i hate forest, i always will do........

i started this blog as a way of remembering things, holidays with my family, football matches, bike racing and shows, stuff i like and that gives me a buzz, images, music and inspiration, rides with mates, walks with my dogs, it was never intended to be a 'fashion' thing, i'm not selling anything, no tee shirts,no coffee table books,no stickers [i gave some away once], no dvd's or any kind of services, i took the name 'loveless' from the katherine bigelow movie of the same name, the 'engineering' bit was because that's what i'm interested in, when i realised people were interested in what i wrote that was great, like minded people who i had things in common with, i have never actively sort out 'follower's', 'terrible fucking name in my opinion, reminds me of the 'life of brian', 'he's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy' etc] i have never censored or deleted ANY comments on this blog, positive or negative, funny, sad or blashphemous and i don't operate a 'subject to approval' posting option, it's everyones blog this, if you like what you see post, if you don't, still post, that's what's great about the internet and what it really was invented for, [yes, i know all about the military communication stuff], a frank and open arena, if you post up a blog you are open to criticism, that's being a human being, everyone has an opinion and is free to express it in my book, so, here we go, ever since trent reker from the bikermetric blog gave me a straightener about posting a couple of photo's of a jawa bobber up on the loveless blog it bugged me, i posted an apology about plagarising 'his' work, then i did a little research, there not 'his' photo's and he didn't build the bike, he posted them up on his blog, put a 'bm' i.d. over the images then wants a credit for it?, excuse me? am i missing something here, a little more research and mr reker wants 'world domination', [ooh err missus, someone wanted that in 1939 and got his arse royally reamed], won't allow anonymous comments, 'by order of the management' and 99,9% of his posts are of other peoples bikes, nothing he builds himself and he want's 'credit' for it? he get's paid for adverts on his blog and his tagline is 'sticking it to the corporate man?' i'm sorry but a little more research reveals he threatens to give someone a slap for posting negative comments, fuck me! it's a blog, it's supposed to be a bit of fun, like i said, an exchange of views, whether you like it or not, please, subscribe to mr rekers blog, he need's the 'follower's' and trent? lose the bandana mate, you look like a member of a dodgy nickleback tribute band............[i'm on vacation in the states again around october, possibly texas, if you want to meet up for a beer, you know how to contact me]
the ritmo sereno race-bike, i am obsessed with this bike, i'm a late comer to this machine, having been sent a link to it from stubbzy, [who is a fellow competitor and boxer racer in the b.e.a.r's series this year] i'm going to post more photo's of this machine in the future but i really can't take all the details in and have to look at one photo at a time instead of overloading and 'scanning', the engineering is absolutely the canines testicles, i'm a fucking amateur me, i wish my bike looked like this one............
never really happy with the footpegs, the more i looked at them the more i disliked them, something more 'traditional' needed m'thinks, got the stock set up and knurling tool on the vice and cut grooves into them every fifteen millimetres, got some engineering nylon stock from the newark 'jumble to turn up a couple of 'slider's' to hammer into the end's, [we got pulled up by an over enthusiastic jobsworth scrute at the last snetterton race meeting on the mz for not having them fitted so best be on the safe side, dangerous ended up shelling out twenty quid for a pair off the spares van so i could race, he's still bitching about that eighteen months down the line], i made a service plate up to mount the roughed out gear change pedal, makes it easier to mill up, got to get three six mm stainless female rosejoints and some six mm stainless roundstock from the local stockholders to make up the linkages for the gearchange and brake pedals, expensive, but worth it for the positive action you get on the levers and certainly cheaper than a blown engine through a sloppy gearchange....................
