not a ducati tt replica

so, the original f1 / f2 ducati race bikes ran a bee-ute-ee-full two-into-one exhaust system, exiting low on the left-hand side of the bike, [remember, the pantah engined bikes had the rear cylinder reversed, not like the poxy, base model, 'poverty' 750ssie 'dark' bike that the 'not a ducati tt replica' bike is based on] hmm, after speaking with nelly at cornerspeed who stressed the importance of the cruciform on the original oem downpipes to scavenge the exhaust gasses and not cheat ourselves out of the hard earned sixty bee-haich-pee we have achieved, i decided to investigate the two wheeled classic 'quill' exhaust at a wallet stretching £700 quid, [although, i admit it's a lovely piece of kit and a fraction of the cost of say, a termi or akra pipe for a sportsbike,  it is though, i'm afraid, way out of budget for a couple of twat derbyshire shed builders] an afternoon of scribbled sums, listing both dogs on e-bay, advertising my servives as an international sock model and mugging dangerous for his winter heating allowance and i still cannot justify spunking that amount of money. i dig out the original, [well, modified for last year's 'peaky blinder' budget 'radical' project] and hang it off the bike. i sketch out and dimension a couple of megaphones, [taking reference points from mark brewins fantastic harris replica bike from an old copy of mcn sport] i'm still not happy and beg mr's b for the two-wheeled classic system to be met with the 'scottish' look and a very firm NO! not wishing to push my luck any further i decide to reluctantly use the original system but hey, that gives me a couple of options even if it's not in keeping with a 'replica'. i can use the carbon can's for noise testing on any trackdays and get my 'passed' sticker, then drop on the 'fruity' meggas and blow up the drive-by noise meter, a quick rattle can job in matt-black to hide the 'sheen' of the polished pipes. i even considered wrapping them but don't want bikeefix or the bikeshed pestering me to feature it on their site's...........

  1. I frickin' love this project! The F2/F1 Ducs are my favourites, memories of Tony Rutter being a world champ almost in secret even to other bikers, dodgy cheating at Barcelona in the park and all that 80's good times vibe

  3. hello steve, hope you are well, sorry to see you nuked your blog, one of the more entertaining one's out there. yeah, strange times indeed although you can't take anything away from tony rutter, i rate him up there with micheal dunlop as someone who will go for the win whatever the cost, prepared to win or die trying, just a real legend, [in this age of 'legend' being used as a throw away term to identify everyone from a third division footballer to the bloke down the local who can neck twelve pints and shag the barmaid. wotcha grant, must say i'm looking forward to next saturday, apparently there's a local derby game between two teams of eternal bottler's, [little fucking leicester top of the prem? the football leauge is upside down!] yeah, i can remember imp's myself, that was where i had to be 'put to bed' by the o'irish after a legendary senior win by 'yer maun' my then girlfriend jacked me as soon as we got home, happy day's........

  4. Thanks for that glad to know someone read it. My blogs back again, well a redux version anyway. You're right there are so few real legends and the over use of the word to describe luke warm fops is a tragedy, Michael Dunlop scares me every time he gets on a bike. I'm expecting him to come a cropper, he epitomises the do or die mentality. A true legend. I saw him doing a demo lap on the last version rotary Norton at Mallory and he rode the wheels off it, you'de have thought he was in a race for his life.
