dub style

the 'other' music young loveless was listening to and buying back in the day, i already had an affinity with the ska and rock-steady tunes courtesy of my mate's at school who stole their old man's vinyl, the early punk gig's, where there wasn't enough punk record's for the dj to play, often turned to the jamaican 'dub' style record's, cut and heavy on the echo chamber, deep rumbling bass, faded in and out, a snatch of vocal's from the 'a' side but predominately insrumental, night's at the carib club, red stripe lager and the air heavy with the scent of ganja, i never breathed in though, honest, marine-ply speaker cabinet's and the 'ttschh, tttsch, ttttttttsycchhhhh of the fader, the dj, for the first time had become more important than the artist, barrington levy, 'shine eyed dub'...........
