aermacchi

try as i might, i couldn't persuade sweary mick to part with just over a hundred quid for a scitsu rev counter for the 'macchi, he insisted that he wanted the veglia analogue, cable-driven original item used on the bike, we made a stainless bracket up this afternoon to mount the tacho off the top yoke, after all my moaning and groaning, swearing and bitching, once the veglia was mounted up? yep, he was right, can you imagine anything else?, i went back into the shed and it hit me, the rusty screws, the 'crazed' white backing, the slightly hazy glass, real heritage, same as the dinted and scraped exhaust header pipe, something's you just can't polish out or paint, 'contagiri per competizione'....

  1. All over it Lovey, old Sweary was right, patina balanced against restorato immaculata is a groovy thing, the fact that the 'Vaguelia' will always be out somewhere is beside the point, it's bloody gorgeous brotherman, so's your little bracket thingy. Big ups mate a.p.u.

  2. Very nice. I've got an old Lucas competition magneto that has a real nice 'veteran' look. I'll probably leave it as is when I get around to restoring my '57 Trumpet. As WLP says the bracketry work looks super sano as they say.

  7. How could you possibly NOT love a simple rev-counter, when it says "competizione" on it ?

  8. Always remember a mate trying to convince the plods that "Reservatio Competitione" on his Ducati meant it wasn't to be used for racing. Got let off 'cos the plod thought it sounded bloody gorgeous!
