i need an mz es 250/2 trophy, no seriously i do, the styling may not be to everyones taste, but i just really like the look of these bikes, the 1968 model was the fastest roadbike in the factories range, punting out a massive 21bhp and capable of propelling you to a heady 70mph, saw this immaculate restoration job on the 'british two-stroke' club stand at stanford on sunday and it re-kindled my interest in these sturdy east german motorcycles, anyone got one lurking in the back of the shed? [wake up squire neil and pay attention!] come on, admit it, you want one too........

  1. Make sure, you retrofit it with an MZ TS250/1 (Supa Five in the UK) engine, get a magneto ignition from MZ-B in Germany and a special 300cc barrel from Gabor in Berlin. Nobody said, flashlights can't fly.

    Cheers,
    Greg

Now stick a MZ race engine in that and you have the perfect street sleeper ;)

  7. Aye... I have had my share of 'em and some even survived my ownership.

Cheers - long time follower (nowadays on an SR500 hack, an XT500 and a Zed thou J model)

If you have any MZ-related questions give me a shout, as you found out already, they can be modded to be DAMN fast. The 4-speed engine has to be split to get to the seals, so not really the perfect choice for an everyday steed...

  8. Ha ha, I gave most of my more bizzarro outfits and gear to a friend that likes to look like a 70's relic when we are out playing in the snow...but I'll keep a sharp eye out for you at the local "Charity" shops.
