national motorcycle museum

with all the drama with the boxer racer project, i have fallen behind on posting some photo's of the bikes that i took during me and dangerous's visit to the national motorcycle museum a few weeks back, as i have said before, if you have any interest in motorcyclings past, a visit is essential, one of the bikes i really wanted to see was the n.l.g peugeot, the 950cc vee-twin that won the inaugural motorcycle race at the famous brooklands circuit in 1908, what's extraordinary about the machine is that it was very badly damaged in the terrible fire at the museum in 2003 that destroyed so many bikes, the bike underwent an extensive restoration in the hands of simon miles, he even handmade the points set up from scratch and the bike roared back into life eighty years after last being ridden in anger, absolutely gorgeous and an inspiring story of one mans effort to get the old girl restored to it's brooklands glory......
