saturday is the new saturday, been busy this week working on the beemer project but not a lot to show for the effort and hours that have been spent, what's revealing is that we haven't actually spent any money yet on this bike, all we have done is cut, clean and machine the standard parts, a far cry from the mz racer where we seemed to dig a big hole and throw cash into it, don't get me wrong, i loved that bike, me and dangerous put our heart's and soul into it along with lots of time and it taught me a lot, i've built loads of bikes in the past, from scooters to hard tail choppers, cafe racers to streetfighters to ama superbike racer replica's  to tidy street customs but never a racer, fucking hell, what a learning curve that was, i always thought i was a 'quick' rider on the road, nothing, but nothing prepared me for the world of the real racer, i thought i'd be winning races straight out of the blocks, talk about disillusioned, i was left for dead by the mz racer's, showing me up for the fraud i was, second to last and last my best result's, blown into the proverbial weed's and lapped to boot, nothings going to change next year but i'm relaxed about it, i'm going to have some fun and i'm enjoying building a no-compromise race bike out of a thirty-year old bag of shit tourer, got the front end sorted, new stainless hardware turned up, thread's cleaned up, calipers finished, [well almost], the brake pad pins were coroded and beyond reclamation, i checked out a bmw part's supplier's webpage and was amazed to see that each pin in stainless was seven pounds and seventy four pence each, that's almost thirty five quid if you include the dreaded vat and p and p, scandoulous, i plucked four 6mm bolts from the stock bin and turned four up, total outlay? about forty pence, result, spent the rest of the afternoon drinking tea, eating mince pies and sketching out a design for a fork brace on an old bran flake packet, i'm tight me, i'm that tight i only breathe in......
