it's a year to the day since i got the mz on the track for the first time, i can't believe how naive i've been, never been on a racetrack before, not even a trackday and i jump in at the deep-end, couple of session's at mallory park at last year's 'festival' and straight into a race meeting at cadwell park followed closely by four races at snetterton, what was i thinking of?, i've blocked three more trackday's since and here we are back at mallory, it doesn't feel so alien this time, i'm more relaxed and as the first session get's under way i'm passing other bikes and using the track, picking my lines and even lapping other bike's, i finish the first session and feel on top of the world, kettle on, check the bike over and i'm aware of people milling around, asking about the bike and taking photo's, debbie, steve and mark turn up, me and steve do the tattoo pose down thing, shirts off, laughing like drain's, i bump into barse, gordy and chris w near the thunderboxes at the lake esses, more people asking about the bike, stu turns up and dumps his riding gear in the van, all of a sudden my second session is called, leathers and helmet on, ready to go, and then, dangerous makes the cut-throat thing, our session has been put back until after dinner, i'm pissed off and go moody, i need some time on my own, everyone goes off to get a brew from one of the numerous catering van's and i sit on the tailgate of the van in the sunshine, precious moment over and we go for a quick walk around the paddock, fuckinell!, there are more tasty bikes here than i have ever seen in my life, it's too much, you just can't take it all in, we watch the past master's from the tower in the pit's, sammy miller is on a mission on the gilera, kenny roberts is awesome, i'm choking on the emotion as ago and john cooper swap positions as they re-enact the race of the year, i'm out straight after the legends, bllooooodddy hell, the crowd's are massive, i'm stuffing bikes all over the park, i can see people waving their programmes as i go past, it doesn't get any better than this, adjust the chain, check the plug and ignition timing and back out for the third session, three laps in and the power drop's off, all of a sudden, the bike get's noisy, i know what it is straight away, the aluminium can has split at the weld, left hand up, cruise around to the paddock, game over.................
