1976 MZ ISDT replica

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this advertised locally for sale, literally ten minutes from home, it’s a 1976 250 mz isdt, [international six day trial] replica, especially at the price, £450! Oh, let me read that again, £4500 yes, really four and a half big ones for a bike that really does look like it’s had a hard life, I mean, a competition bike does look better with a few hard earned scars but really? Just been dragged out of a damp shed and the tyres not even pumped up before trying to sell, is it me or what?

  1. I believe the phrases that pay are patina and Selvedge, (could be wrong on the second one.. .)

  2. Nice one Jan! More piss taker than patina I reckon! He’s got a shed full of ‘classics’ in a similar state....

  3. I'm sure with your skills you could built one yourself for half the money.Way 2 go TB fire up that lathe.

  4. Just can’t find a donor bike Julian, searching eBay every night but still hoping to pick up a bargain where someone’s just got one rotting in the shed rather than cutting up a nice example, I reckon people are stockpiling them as the prices are certainly shooting up.

  5. Have you looked in your mum's shed. Maybe there's something in there you've forgotten

  7. $5900 USD exchange rate conversion. I love the bike but that is a lot of money.
detail clean and refurbish as needed. remove the tank bag and mud flaps. new seat cover and replace all parts made from rubber. I think the bike is worth $2000 (£1530) as it is now. although.... I never see them for sale in the USA and the bike has tons of commie style. I love the bike, wish you had it.

  8. Hello mate, yeah, the price is a tad salty for sure! I agree on your valuation but sadly anything with competition heritage in the UK and the prices go through the roof! I’ve checked your blogs, some interesting stuff going down, ok to add you to my blogs list on here?

  11. Send me a Dm at tim.dog@btinternet.com, let me know condition and details, photos are a must before I can give you a bid, sorry to be formal but I want to make sure we are on the same page, there are a lot of replicas out there that are just a ts250 with a 21 inch front wheel and a leather bag! If it’s a genuine isdt I will pay a good price for a genuine bike.

  12. Hay all, I have a 1974 MZ ISDT that is all original and needs to be restored and I wanted to find info. on the bike. I really love it and have had it for about 18 years (in the same condition). I’ve not really put full effort into finding information but what I can find (especially here in the US) is few and far between.
