unlike modern bikes like my hypermotard and the ktm 'beaky blinder' the glass-fibre bodywork for the 'not a ducati tt replica' bike is very primitive, not taking anything away from spike who made me the replica bodywork, hand layed, chopped strand glass-fibre is never going to attain the same tolerances and finish as modern, injection moulded abs plastics. also, the 'peaky blinder' is based on a 750ssie ducati, not an original pantah. the fork centres on a pantah are a lot slimmer than a 'modern' bike [well, a sixteen year old bike with upside-down-forks] so, we are where we are, a lot of head-scratching, duct-tape and tool-makers clamps to get the fairing something like. small problem. the fairing prevents the forks reaching full lock, oh yeah and the height is wrong too. imagine tapping your head and rubbing your belly, go on, try it, it's hard isn't it! i make the call, i have to truncate the fairing just above the bottom yoke, filing and shaping the 'glass to suit. [you need to have a very, very close look at the pictures to see what i'm talking about] seven hours work to get to this stage, not a lot to show for that amount of effort. fuck it. i'm going to take up fishing or pigeon racing instead and save myself a lot of heart-ache...........
