My copy of the latest Classic Racer magazine recently dropped through the letterbox and i was fascinated to see that there is a new book about the MZ racers by Manfred Woll. I decided to have a look at the website who were advertising the book for sale, www.79oktan.net a specialist publication about classic German vehicles, so, if like myself the likes of MZ motorcycles or Trabant two-stroke cars floats your boat its well worth a look.
This little beauty is unique, being the only MZ rotary motorcycle still running. Apparently, the Zschopau factory developed a rotary engine as a replacement for the traditional piston ported design and was the first rotary engined motorcycle but sadly never got beyond the development stage because of the cost involved with large volume motorcycle production.
