top photo is the trick little 'domino' combined start / run / stop / kill switch that arrived today, i first saw one of these on one of the harley xr1200 sportsters in the bsb support races last season, harris knock them out for nearly fifty quid a punt, i got this one, exactly the same for less than £30, it's a quality bit of kit and could be the answer to a lot of project's or trackbike problems, nice and neat and also save's your expensive o.e.m. switches if your a regular trackdayer, we worked out the angle of the brake and gear lever's by the age old method of me sitting on the bike and dangerous marking the actuating rod with a marker pen once i had my feet in a comfortable position, i made up the swan-necked gearchange rod out of a piece of 6mm stainless roundstock, made an angle finder out of a welding rod and cold-bent it to shape in the miller vice, tapped the stock to lenght but left a little thread both end's to leave some adjustment if i'm not happy with the lever angles and to lock off the rosejoint's with a 6mm nut exhaust hanger bracket's to mount the megga's from, just swapped the bolt's holding the footpeg's for stud's and nut's so we can swap them quicker in the event of a spill, there's almost nothing so cathartic as taking a rough grade emery to some nice shiny chrome and rubbing away the plating to prepare for a coat of matt black rattle can is there?

boxer racer project
monday night, off to the badlands, the other side of derby to see johnny owd bollocks to get my header pipes welded up, after ten minutes of taking the michael about the capping pieces i made up, the purging gas is on, the tig spark's into life and before i've finished my tea, the job's a good 'un, johnny old bollocks is a real character, ex scrambles rider, ['not fucking motocross or fucking mx youth, it's scrambling'] ex roadracer, [sweary mick loves to tell the tale of john losing the back-end of his goldstar at oulton park when his oil tank gave up the ghost and he broke his arm in the inevitable crash, 'he might be a good scrambler youth but even owd bollock's couldn't get the back-end straight!' john has a great collection of machines, keith flint, [the prodigy singer] mint ducati 916, a methanol burning jawa 500 single in a mettise frame, an immaculate kevin shwantz replica gixxer thou and three triumph engined rickman mettise, yep, three, 'i like fucking about in the shed building the triumph's, i'd rather be out here than watching the telly'.............amen to that o.b.

the loveless vinyl vault [aka skeletons in the cupboard]
'hi baby, it's me and i'm on my way' 'what! man, if i ever see you again it'll be too soon! you stayed away too long and i'm packed!' total brilliance, atlantic soul at it's best........
boxer race project
here at the loveless race corporation we like to promote recycling of old material, we are 'doing our bit' for the planet, using old stuff for our project's, cutting down our carbon footprint and to tell you the truth, having to make do with old tat we have lying around the shed, aahem, needed to blank off the holes that were left when i cut the balance pipe out of the stock beemer exhaust, i took a cardboard pattern and ragged a couple of blanking cap's out of the old balance pipe, have a chat with yourselve's, you really thought that this bike was being built on a whim didn't you? fuck the planet, burn more hydrocarbon's, not much fossil fuel left now, have you not seen mad max? electric race bike's? naaah, give me noise, smell and heat, batteries are ok for your torch, shaver or smoke alarm, give me, give me, give me, petroleum, high octane, oh yes...........

melatonin
boxer racer, love this image, [thank's jan tomlinson, long term loveless agent provocateur], fork's extending, rear shock's compressing, weedy, front drum brake, engine, wheels, fairing, absolute brilliance,it's a motorcycle reduced to it's base component's.......
boxer racer project
pipes, chillum, bong, hookah, kiseru, sebsi, calumet, fill my bowl with a good shag, light, suck, cough, choke, i don't smoke but pipes are important to me, i spunked a couple of hundred on a pair of beautiful carbon oval can's, on a whim, after a drunken night surfing the 'bay, nevermind, put them into stock, they'll come into use one day, everything does eventually, thank's whitey, chris, med's and jan, [via e-mail], shorty reverse cones are the way to go, i knew it really, the only choice, [had some commando pea-shooter's on my beemer cafe racer and they worked great, but, well, the megga's do it for me, and you too apparently] the megga's were from the local triumph dealer, a steal at seventy quid a pair, the adaptor collet's are f'ugly so dangerous turned up a couple of adapters out of ally, need to make up a couple of blanking pieces and get them welded into the downpipes to replace the cut-out balance pipe, rub the dirty chrome finish off the megga's, spray them matt black, possibly some exhaust wrap to hide the 32 year old pock-marked, salt stained and scarred downpipes and improve performance by lagging the primary pipe to promote a better inlet charge, internet, dangerous, makes me sound like i know what i'm on about............

boxer racer project
whooah, what happened there? i appear to have lost a whole week without a post, sorry about that, sometimes life just seem's to get in the way, right, here we go, i have a 'pipe' dilemma, lush, carbon fibre, lightweight can's, [too modern], long, long, long commando pea-shooter's, [too long], or, just right shorty, reverse cone megga's, [just right i reckon, in keeping with the whole classic racer look] this is your chance to influence the loveless boxer race project, what do you think?
bill lomas
bill lomas, genius, can't put this book down since sweary mick lent it to me, if you can track a copy of this classic down do it, brilliant, i love the photo's, the well known guzzi v-8 pictures to the cadwell park, over-the-mountain and awesome tt photo's with the cheeky, over the shoulder, sideway's glance of the manx copper watching bill into the left-hander......
